York Wang, Ph.D. – Chairman of the Board and Founder
Yorktel was founded by Dr. York Wang, who pioneered early efforts in video conferencing and saw its promise to transform the way people communicate. As an early innovator in the videoconferencing industry, he was responsible for digital video teleconferencing product planning and the systems engineering effort that defined prototype and initial standard products, subsystem interfaces, initial maintenance capabilities and customer network control protocol for Bell Laboratories.
In 1985, Dr. Wang founded York Telecom, and today his vision has grown into a full service organisation offering professional videoconferencing and network consulting, operational and integration services to Government and Commercial markets. The company, now Yorktel, has become the leading managed services specialist for video conferencing and unified communications Globally. With offices throughout North America and a newly established office in EMEA, Yorktel makes video work for business and government clients throughout the world.
Dr. Wang holds a Ph.D. and an MS in Solid State Physics from the University of Missouri at Columbia, and a specialist certificate in Quantum Electronics from the University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Wang received a patent for his Equalising Signal Combiner. He has also published several articles in various technical and business publications. In 2000, Dr Wang was named the New Jersey Minority Small Business Person of the Year. In 2009, Dr. Wang was named Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year®. This award recognised entrepreneurial excellence in technology category.
Ron Gaboury – Chief Executive Officer
Ron joined Yorktel in 1995 serving as Chief Financial Officer and then President and Chief Operating Officer from 1999 to March of 2011. Under Ron’s management the Company established a leading position in the videoconferencing market by successfully leveraging its core Federal expertise into commercial markets where it secured some of the largest enterprise customers in the industry. Ron also led the company through several successful acquisitions. In this capacity he coordinates the company’s corporate development functions, with responsibility for acquisitions, investments and overall business expansion.
Bin Guan – Chief Technology Officer
As the Chief Technology Officer, Bin is responsible for delivering a competitive advantage in the industry by identifying the most advanced video communications technology and translating it into solutions that provide the most value for Yorktel customers. His primary focus is the creation of a multiyear technology roadmap based upon current and future vendor product development plans. Bin has over 18 years experience in video conferencing, rich media, unified communication solutions, and internetworking. Before joining Yorktel, he held various management positions involving development of PBX, wireless systems, Optic Local Loop, and HDSL/ADSL.
Dr. Joe-E Hu – Chief Information Officer
Dr. Joe-E Hu received his MS and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Wayne State University, MI. Before attending Wayne State, Dr. Hu received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Chung-Yuan Christian University, Taiwan. Since 2005, when he joined Yorktel as Director of Information Services, Dr. Hu has continued his impressive track record in his leadership of the Information Technologies (IT) and Information Management (IM) groups. In 2007, Dr. Hu was promoted to Chief Information Officer. His design and implementation of the next generation of core enterprise applications and portals provides the backbone of the Company’s everyday operations as well as expanding our reach to provide secure and reliable Web-access support to our customers.
Judi Pulig – Chief Financial Officer
Judi is responsible for the day-to-day management of all aspects of Yorktel finance including strategic planning, accounting, forecasting, and budget management. Judi supports the President in developing and managing the operating budget, oversees coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organisation and reports to the CEO and Board of Directors particularly in relation to securing new funding.
Simon Murphy – Managing Director, EMEA
Simon took the Yorktel EMEA reins as Managing Director in Jan 2016, having spent the previous 4 years as Sales Director. Prior to this, he was Sales & Marketing Director at First Connections, which was acquired by Yorktel in 2012. Simon has over 20 years experience in the videoconferencing and collaboration market across both commercial and public sectors. Now responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and growth of all of the business units within Yorktel EMEA, he is known for his direct approach and desire to share his knowledge and experience within the collaboration industry.
Keith Gyford – Quality Director, EMEA
Motivated by the challenge of leading edge technology and the demands of people within business, Keith is always occupied and motivated. Driven by the rewards of building and growing businesses, Keith has a wealth of experience from working in large corporates, such as BT and IBM to launching and running his own company. Founded in 1995, First Connections Limited became one of the UK’s most successful value added systems integrators in the videoconferencing market. Acquired in April 2012 by Yorktel, Keith remains at the helm of its EMEA business and sits on the Executive Board of Yorktel Inc. A technologist at heart, strategically driven and a great lateral thinker, Keith will always find time to support his staff development. Known to be “Brutally Honest”, if you don’t want to know the answer don’t ask the question!
Karen Paglia – Executive Vice President, Business Management
Karen Paglia became Yorktel’s Senior Vice President of Operations and Delivery in October 2011 and is responsible for overseeing Engineering Services, Implementation Services, Procurement and Logistic Services the Video Network Operations Centre (VNOC) and the Service Desk.
Karen came to York Telecom in 1997, initially part of the finance team, and has since held various management positions including her previous position of Senior Vice President of Corporate Services, which she held for 4 years.
Greg Douglas – Executive Vice President, Sales
Greg is an information technology executive with broad expertise in sales, marketing, product management and operations. Most recently, Greg served as Yorktel’s Senior Vice President of Business Development and Channel Partners. From 2004 to 2011, Greg was Yorktel’s Senior Vice President of Operations. Prior to joining Yorktel, Greg was Sales Centre Vice President for public sector at AT&T. He held other positions at AT&T in marketing at AT&T Government Solutions, in product management at AT&T Computer Systems and in finance at AT&T Bell Laboratories. Greg received a BA from Lehigh University, an MBA from Rutgers University and attended the Executive Education programme at Columbia University.
Mark Maxey – Executive Vice President, Media Services
Mark leads Yorktel’s award-winning video broadcast and event production operations globally. His work has appeared on ABC, Bloomberg, CBS, CNBC, CNN, Discovery, FOX, Military Channel, MSNBC, MTV, NBC, and PBS. Prior to joining Yorktel in 2002, Mark helped establish Intervu as one of the first distributed streaming media CDN and event production companies, which was later acquired by Akamai Technologies for $2.8 Billion. Mark was part of the team that built the interactive television pioneer, TV Answer, and was also a founding member of the Network News Corporation, a real-time, satellite-based news and data delivery service.
Jim DeBlasio – Executive Vice President, Operations
As EVP Operations, Jim oversees the delivery and continued optimisation of Yorktel’s services to both its corporate and federal clientele, in addition to shared internal services. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the Mobility, Optical, Software, and Internet technology services industries to Yorktel, having held numerous executive leadership posts. During his time as President and CEO of Internap Network Services Corporation, Jim initiated a new set of Cloud Technology, IP and Video products and was instrumental in helping the company achieve a doubling of revenue; a dramatic increase in new customers, two of the largest multi-year deals and the first year of Net Income profitability in the company’s history.
Joseph M. Arena – Senior Vice President, Advanced Services
As Senior Vice President of Advanced Services for Yorktel, Joseph Arena and his team lead development, services delivery and execution for Yorktel’s managed services customers worldwide. The Advanced Services team marshals the company’s vast professional services, integration and consulting expertise to simplify business processes, maximise operational efficiency and ROI.
As an accomplished IT executive of more than 18 years, Joseph brings an intimate familiarity with next-generation enterprise computing and communications. His experience includes tactical and long-term strategy definition and execution, programme and project management, risk management, process engineering and service ownership, engineering and operations. Joseph is also well practiced in corporate merger and acquisitions, having led the integration of technology services and personnel in both small and large organisations. Prior to joining Yorktel, Joseph served in various leadership and managerial roles at Merck, where his team successfully led project and change management, platform engineering, level 3 support and maintenance, as well as financial planning for enterprise UC, collaboration, and content management systems.
Peter McLain – Senior Vice President of Healthcare
As the Senior Vice President of Healthcare at Yorktel, Peter provides leadership to Yorktel’s dedicated focus in the global Healthcare market and oversees a growing portfolio of telehealth product solutions and services. A pioneer and leader in the field of Telehealth video solutions, Peter joined Yorktel in July 2014. He has over 15 years of experience in healthcare IT, serving in various business development and sales leadership positions at healthcare technology manufacturers such as Rubbermaid Healthcare, CPort Solutions, Johnson & Johnson, DePuy and Zimmer. Peter currently resides in Charlotte, NC with his wife and five children.
John Vitale – Senior Vice President, Product Management
John has 18+ years in the video communications and managed services industry. Having held roles ranging from sales, operations and product development throughout his career, his experience and understanding of video complexities enables his expertise in streamlining each aspect of video communications. John’s outstanding leadership has driven many accolades and industry awards for his work. Recently, he was awarded US Patent # 8,576,270 “Intelligent call management and redirection”. John is a native New Jerseyan and currently resides in Monroe Township with his wife and 2 children.
Samantha Osowski – Vice President, Marketing
Samantha has led Yorktel’s global Marketing since 2012 and is responsible for building Yorktel’s worldwide brand awareness through arrangement and dissemination of thought leadership content, public relations, shows and events, analyst relations, digital and social media, award nominations and other Sales support initiatives. Past positions include Product Marketing for Panasonic North America in its B2B divisions, and Advertising Account Management for American Lawyer Media. Samantha holds a BA of Communication from George Washington University and an MBA from Michigan State University. She currently resides in New York with her husband and two children.
